I didn’t know why I was more nervous—because it was my wedding day, or because I knew I was marrying a man who didn’t care who he got married to.

Lara and her helpers fussed over me with my dress and makeup. They had left no stone unturned in finding me the perfect white dress. With a sweetheart neck and a beaded bodice, the skirt was A-line and flowed delicately all around me. The train was long and two young girls from Lara’s local friends’ group were going to carry it for me. My bouquet was made of pink and white flowers, and my makeup was a faint pink shade.

They’d struggled with my wild dark curls, finally settling on making a loose stylishly messy bun that sat pretty on one side of my head. I had to admit, when I looked at myself in the mirror I felt beautiful.

I felt like any woman should feel on her wedding day. Like a princess.

Even though this was not a real wedding, I knew that if I did marry someone later in life, it would look nothing like this. This dress alone cost more than I would ever be able to spend at a wedding I was paying for.

Lara gushed and smiled and looked excited as she readied me for the ceremony.

“Ethan’s ready and looking handsome,” she said at one point as she fussed with my train. I gulped at that thought. She didn’t have to tell me for me to know he looked dashing. And I was marrying him!

Robert was there to greet me at the door when it was time for me to leave. He gave me his arm and then patted my hand lovingly. Lara was behind me with a bouquet.

“You look absolutely stunning, my dear. I just saw Ethan and he can’t wait to marry you,” he said. I tried to smile at him but my nerves got the better of me. I was afraid I wouldn’t even be able to walk the short aisle down the garden.

The guests stood up when we emerged from the house. Lara had hired a full orchestra and they played the wedding march as we took up our positions at the end of the aisle.

Under the beautiful floral trellis at the other end, Ethan stood in his tuxedo, with his hands clasped together. Beside him was the priest who was going to marry us. I met his eyes; he was staring at me. His corsage matched my bouquet and his dark tuxedo fit him gorgeously, perfectly. His blue eyes shone as he waited for me to approach him. I was marrying the hottest guy I’d ever met. Even though it was a lie, it was still exciting!

Robert led me down the aisle and the closer I got to Ethan, the hotter I felt in my dress. He was watching me, watching me take every step towards him. There was a faint smile on his face as his eyes traveled all over my dress, taking in the tight bodice and my cleavage that revealed over the top of the dress.
